Ethical AI and the Future of Graphic Design

We're in an exciting time. AI tools are becoming must-haves for designers everywhere. These tools boost creativity, simplify workflows, and open up new possibilities.

AI is no longer just a future idea. It's a real partner for graphic designers. From brainstorming to final touches, AI helps every step of the way. It can generate fresh ideas, handle boring tasks, and fine-tune design elements quickly. This teamwork between people and AI doesn’t replace artists. Instead, it makes them even better, leading to more creative and efficient designs.

As we look into how AI is changing graphic design, we’ll see how it makes the field more accessible and groundbreaking. Welcome to the future of graphic design, where creativity and technology work hand in hand.

Standpoint of a Young Artist: Ayomide Olasoji

Meet Ayomide Olasoji. He’s been a designer with over five years in the industry. He loves to read and collect hardcovers. Every time he picks up a book, he gets immersed in its design, constantly thinking about how the cover could be improved. That’s how passionate he is with his design work.

This is a picture of Ayomide Olasoji

A short chat with Ayomide reveals many aspects of his creativity and how he is developing the brand he founded: The Ayomide Olasoji.

“It’s all about harnessing the power of creativity, design, and strategy. It’s not just about aesthetics; it's about creating solutions—designs should both be visually appealing and sound.

If Ayomide likes to find logic in his design, it is no wonder he is fascinated with how AI is changing the landscape for artists like him.

“I believe that AI is revolutionizing the design industry, helping designers deliver work faster and more efficiently than ever before.”.

Ayomide is confident about his craft and his skills. He never even hesitated for a moment when asked if he uses AI.

“Using AI tools like ChatGPT, Krea, and Gemini, I streamline my workflow, and my creative processes. Everything gets more speed and accuracy.”

Ayomide treats AI as a collaborator in his design process. While he advocates the use of AI in ideation and enhancement, he is quick to point out that he “only supports the ethical use of AI.”.

“I do not see AI as a competitor. AI complements my skills and capabilities.”

Ayomide shares how he benefits from using AI tools.

Ideation

AI helps Ayomide brainstorm and generate new ideas. It’s where he looks for inspiration for a new logo, website layout, or marketing campaign. AI tools provide a wealth of creative possibilities that he can build upon.

Enhancement

Once Ayomide has a concept in place, AI assists in refining and enhancing his designs. Tools like Krea and Gemini suggest improvements, optimize color schemes, and automate repetitive tasks, allowing Ayomide to focus more on the creative aspects.

Using Ethical AI

Ayomide believes in using AI responsibly and ensuring that it serves as a force for good in the design industry. This means being transparent about AI's role in his work, respecting privacy and intellectual property, and continuously striving to use these tools in ways that benefit both creators and clients.

Ayomide's Top Projects

Over the years, Ayomide has worked on several remarkable projects. His top three favorites are:

Amazing Bites (2024)

Amazing Bites is a gourmet food brand that sought to revamp its visual identity and online presence. Through vibrant colors, mouth-watering imagery, and user-friendly interfaces, Ayomide created a digital experience that truly reflects the brand’s passion for high-quality, delicious food.

Deliv (2022)

Deliv, a delivery service startup, needed a sleek, intuitive app design. Ayomide focused on creating a clean, modern brand identity that captivated the target and delivered the brand promise.

Street Wear (2022)

Street Wear, a fashion brand that wanted to stand out in the crowded clothing industry. Ayomide's use of bold graphics, edgy typography, and a dynamic website layout helped craft a brand identity that captures the spirit and attitude of urban fashion.

The 100-Day Design Challenge

To keep pushing his boundaries and upskilling himself, Ayomide is on to a 100-Day Design Challenge. This challenge is a personal commitment to explore new design techniques, experiment with innovative tools, and expand his creative horizons every single day. It's also a stepping stone toward a major transition in his design career planned for 2025.

For Ayomide, this is a transformative experience. Each day presents a new opportunity to push the boundaries of creativity and refine his design skills. It is a deep dive into the essence of design thinking and problem-solving.

It’s looking to connect to dots so he can turn his ideas into logical reality. This means experimenting with different design elements, exploring new tools, and constantly seeking inspiration from the world around him. From typography to color theory, each aspect of design was explored.

This way, his designs become narratives. Each one telling a unique story, transporting viewers into the perspective of a young artist that tries to defy the art’s for art’s sake mantra. After all, design should be logical. It should be functional.

“It is also a great learning process,” shares Ayomide. “As I connect with fellow designers, sharing insights and giving and receiving feedback, I realize many things. It is not only about collaboration but also deepening my understanding of different perspectives in the design world.”

He realized how much he needs to learn and how far that is going to take him.

But the challenge taught him discipline. He accepts the reality of continuous learning. It reaffirmed his belief that design is not just about aesthetics but about creating meaningful connections and experiences. That art is how he transforms reality into his design. This makes him more excited about the future of design and the endless possibilities it holds.

Ayomide’s other projects are available in his social media accounts. He assures everyone that he won’t mind if people ask why he gets inspiration from looking at book covers.

How AI Simplifies Email Marketing and Reduce Costs

Artificial intelligence is making email marketing more accessible and cost-effective for businesses of all sizes. As AI insights are incorporated into email marketing, companies are able to create more personalized messages, promote products or services, and build lasting relationships with their audience. The return on investment (ROI) for email marketing is impressive, often outperforming other marketing channels. According to research, every dollar spent on email marketing can yield an average return of $42, and professional marketers report a 760% increase in revenue from building email lists and using email campaigns.

This is an image of post-its about online marketing includign email marketing

The basic principles of email marketing revolve around delivering the right message to the right audience at the right time. Personalization is key, as tailored content connects more with recipients, leading to higher engagement rates. Segmentation, another core principle, involves dividing an email list into smaller, targeted groups based on demographics, behavior, or other criteria. This ensures that the content is relevant to each recipient. Regular and consistent communication helps maintain customer interest and loyalty, while analytics and metrics enable businesses to track the effectiveness of their campaigns and make data-driven decisions. AI and no-code options simplify these for companies.

AI and No-code for Email Marketing

Artificial Intelligence and no-code options automate complex tasks and eliminate the need for extensive coding knowledge. These technologies streamline the process of creating and managing email campaigns.

AI Simplifies Email Marketing: AI takes the guesswork out of email marketing by providing valuable insights and automation capabilities. With AI-powered tools like Brevo, marketers can analyze customer data to understand preferences and behaviors, allowing for the creation of highly personalized content. This level of personalization increases engagement rates and enhances stronger customer relationships. Aritifical Intelligence can also optimize campaigns by automatically generating subject lines, email content, and send times. This automation not only saves time but also ensures that emails are sent at the optimal time for each recipient, increasing the likelihood of engagement.

No-Code Options Cut Costs and Lower Barriers: No-code tools eliminate the need for programming skills, allowing marketers to design and launch email campaigns without hiring developers. This democratization of technology means that small businesses and startups can compete on an equal footing with larger companies. No-code platforms offer intuitive drag-and-drop interfaces, making it easy to create visually appealing emails without the need for HTML or CSS knowledge. This ease of use reduces the time and resources spent on email campaign development, allowing businesses to focus on strategy and content.

Cost Efficiency: By leveraging Artificial Intelligence and no-code tools, businesses can significantly reduce their email marketing costs. AI-driven automation minimizes the need for manual intervention, freeing up valuable time for marketing teams to focus on higher-level tasks. No-code platforms also reduce the need for expensive technical resources, as marketers can handle the entire campaign creation process independently. This combination of reduced labor costs and increased efficiency results in a higher return on investment (ROI) for email marketing efforts.

How Brevo is Changing Email Marketing

One tool that stands out in the crowded market of email marketing platforms is Brevo (formerly SendinBlue). Unlike more popular email marketing platforms such as MailChimp, Brevo offers less cost for handling campaigns with large contact list, strong subscriber segmentation and CRM features.

AI Content Generation: A Challenged Writers Dream or a Creativity Killer?

AI content generation has been increasing and so are the eyebrows and fists rising about its effect on originality and creativity. So, let's discuss this controversial topic that is making waves online. Are you on for a debate: Is AI-generated content a blessing or a curse for writers and content creators?

The use of AI in everyday life is now as common as checking Facebook feeds for any interesting stories. Students, job-hunters, creatives, professionals, developers, professors, lecturers, marketers, CEOs, name it and they either use AI tools to automate their everyday tasks or a part of their professional work. But, the use of Artificial Intelligence tools in content generation is creating a controversy that is exploding everywhere online - putting into question what creativity and originality actually mean. While AI tools have been praised for their efficiency and ability to streamline the writing process, there are growing concerns about the impact of AI on the quality and originality of content.

The Problem with AI-Generated Content

One of the main criticisms of AI-generated content is the lack of human touch and creativity. Algorithms can churn out articles at lightning speed, but they often lack the depth and nuance that human writers bring to their work. This can result in bland, generic, and uninspiring content that fails to engage readers.

Another point is the fact that the over-reliance on AI algorithms in content creation can lead to a flood of low-quality and spammy content saturating the internet. This not only devalues the art of writing but also undermines the credibility of online content.

The Effects on Content Creators

For human content creators, the rise of AI-generated content poses a threat of job displacement. As companies turn to AI to produce content more quickly and cost-effectively, the need for human writers may diminish. This can lead to a devaluation of creativity and writing skills, as well as a loss of livelihood for many talented writers.

Also, the use of AI-generated content can affect trust among audiences. Readers may be skeptical of content that lacks a human touch, leading to decreased engagement and loyalty towards brands and publishers. Are AI content generation tools a lazy writer's dream or a creativity killer? Boredpanda.com has some hilarious and disturbing AI-generated images to share.

From nonsensical ramblings to hilariously inaccurate information, Aritificial Intelligence has certainly produced some entertaining content. However, these examples also highlight the limitations of AI in capturing the essence of human creativity, humor, and factual information.

Imagine reading an article written by Aritificial Intelligence that discusses the secret lives of unicorns living on Mars, or a product description that claims a toothbrush can be used as a magical wand. While these examples may elicit a chuckle, they also underscore the importance of human creativity in producing engaging and meaningful content.

The Future of Content Creation: Finding a Balance

As we look ahead to the future of content creation, it's essential to find a balance between AI technology and human creativity. Rather than viewing AI as a replacement for human writers, we should see it as a tool to support and enhance our creative process.

Companies should prioritize quality and creativity over quantity when it comes to content creation. By combining the efficiency of AI algorithms with the ingenuity of human writers, we can produce content that resonates with audiences and stands out in a sea of generic content.

Maintaining a human touch in content creation is essential for building trust and connection with readers. While Artificial Intelligence may have its place in the writing world, it should never overshadow the value of human creativity and storytelling.

Conclusion

The debate over AI-generated content is far from over. While AI technology offers efficiency and convenience, it also presents challenges in terms of creativity and quality. As content creators, it's important to approach AI with a critical eye and ensure that our work maintains a human touch.

By finding a balance between Artificial Intelligence technology and human creativity, we can harness the power of both to produce engaging and meaningful content that resonates with audiences. Let's embrace the opportunities that AI offers while preserving the art of storytelling and creativity that makes our work truly unique.

AI and Youtube shorts

This is a screenshot of top YouTube shorts

Short, but sweet.

This is exactly the idea behind YouTube shorts. Videos that are direct and fun to watch. Youtube has its own built-in shorts video maker. It's a breeze. For content creators who want more variety and control for their content, they use their phones to record and edit videos.

Improve Your YouTube Shorts with AI

But, for those who want more tricks and effects for their content, AI is the best tool for them. Canva. Clipchamp. There's Kapwing, too. It promises to give what YouTubers want - simple steps to make shorts and unlock the gateway to virality. Flixier is also another application that creates YouTube shorts. The online platform lets users upload videos online. It promises quick and easy steps to making videos. Netflix, Google, and Oracle also use the application.

This is a screenshot of AI generated videos.
Everything is AI now. Where does that place content creators? Content creators used to familiarize themselves with old video editing platforms that take time to learn. They are for the tech-savvy. Yet, in a world of AI, imagination and creativity are just a few keypresses. In minutes, a video that might be YouTube's next sensation can be created. The only thing that creators need to do is to find what is the best YouTube video editing app.

AI Video Editors as a Trend

Now, it seems that Adobe Premiere or Wondershare is aged. The new cool are AI video editors. And, in my observation, companies that hire video editors and content creators demand experience or knowledge in at least 3 platforms. Gone are the days when all it takes for video editors is expertise in Adobe Premiere or After Effects. Companies ask their applicants if they use the latest AI video editing tools. If the answer is negative, it would raise eyebrows.

A content creator should be quick to notice trends and changes. He must be able to understand the principles employed why these trends and changes happen. It is key to achieving engaging content. However, it is not only about having viral content that should define the motives of how a content creator should approach AI. AI must be approached with a kid's curiosity - a creator must unscrew all there is to it to find what works and what doesn't

Welcome The Changes that AI Video Editors Provide

These days, a video editor or content creator must flow with the trends unless he/she wants to be left out. Content creation demands fluidity and creativity. Some may reason that AI makes instant editors or creators without the experience of those older in the field. But, then, our world is as dynamic as AI tools - ever-changing, re-shaping, and re-positioning to provide us the best experience.

Instead of marking AI as a threat to creativity, AI should be treated as a friend which can help us optimize content creation and level up our creativity. Content creators should utilize it to create a more engaging and well-informed online audience. Of course, there are many content creators who are beginning to use AI to create misinformation but, these should not be blamed on AI. Human content creators use AI to create fake video content. We should hold human content creators for their lapse of judgment. And we can begin with it by using AI in the best possible way. That is, to create contents that further our creativity and engage our audience more.

Change is inevitable and we should be as welcoming to those changes as the new neighbor who greets us on the first day with a bottle of red wine. Say hello to changes.

The Race For AI Graphics Editing

image of Photoshop Generative AI features

I am a Photoshop user and while I was used to its artisanic features back when Artificial Intelligence tools were still out of the picture, I welcome the text-to-graphic editing features. The AI Photoshop beta version has been released. The world can now nurture more imaginative digital artists. Imagine 3-year-olds creating their Photoshop art before they can write their names. Upcoming artists can generate more artwork faster. Have you seen those magnificent digital artworks at DeviantArt's DreamUp? Imagine how much more digital artwork can be finished with just a few keypresses and clicks. In this direction, there would be a trend towards larger hardware needs for laptops and desktops and larger cloud hosting capacity. But, that topic is for another day.

There's a bigger question. How can Photoshop or other Adobe applications keep up with the competition? Remember how Kodak lost the advantage because it allowed digital photography to go into other people’s hands? Well, that’s a hard lesson to learn. That lesson took down a huge company and buried it fast so that today’s Gen Z doesn’t even know it existed. I hope Adobe does not pass up the chance to continue its graphics and video editing dominance by creating more dynamic AI-powered tools.

Adobe vs. DreamUp and Pixlr

DeviantArt is taking art into a new dimension with its AI tools for free. Pixlr is also making the buzz. It is free, light and simple. No installations needed. All it takes is a single click to access its homepage. Wondershare Filmora 13 video editor  has also introduced AI-assisted tools. It is cheaper than Adobe Premiere. Newer and lighter graphics and video editing platforms are coming out armed with their awesome branding.

Sure, Adobe applications have proven their efficiency. Adobe Firefly has stunning AI features that now power other Adobe applications including the AI Photoshop beta version. It is no wonder they remain on top. But, other platforms claim to have the same tools and offer those in cheaper packages. Who can say no to that? I used the text-to-image prompts of Pixlr, DeviantArt's DreamUp and Adobe Firefly AI image generators, and here is what came out:

DreamUp generated photo of a roman goddess holding a ball of light. This is how text-to-image generative AI works

Pixlr's AI-generated photo

Adobe Firefly's generated photo of a roman goddess holding a ball of light. This is how text-to-image generative AI works

Adobe Firefly's AI-generated photo

Pixlr and DreamUp can seriously compete with images generated by Adobe Firefly. Maybe, you are asking why I choose DreamUp and Pixlr compared to other much more advanced AI tools which could be bigger competition for Adobe Generative AI features. I choose this platforms to make a point. These are small platforms. They're not as sleek and glamorous as Adobe but their features can compete. And if these smaller platforms can devise tools that are as good as Adobe's, imagine what other larger firms can come up with that can really hurt Adobe's dominance.

Adobe Must Step Up Its Use Of Artificial Intelligence

I have complete respect for Adobe's tools. I have been using Adobe Photoshop since college. I am a fan and user of AfterEffects. I may not have the talent of a great artist but I can also make something work with Adobe Illustrator. I have not become a full-fledged artist or a graphics artist as I have wanted to be but Adobe tools were there for me during the times when I felt like I was going to be one damn good artist in 2000s.

I am now back to reality that Adobe tools are necessary tools to fulfill my tasks and settle my finances, and not really to become a full-fledge artist. Yet, even on this note, I am aware of how other graphics design and video editing tools are doing their absolute best to break Adobe's dominance.

If Adobe does not want to be another Kodak, it must take action. Artificial Intelligence is a powerful tool and Adobe seems to be missing some important potentialities. It needs to offer more if it wants its applications to remain on top. In this fast-changing world where the future of technology seems to lean on Artificial Intelligence, it is hard to act complacent. Act fierce. Act fast.
